ABOUT THE PLAYDATE: The Mass Patriots Volleyball Club Playdate is an opportunity for talented girls' high school volleyball players to display their skills and athleticism for prospective college coaches. This is our 26th year.
Tryout Date: Sunday, November 25th
Place: Quincy High School, 52 Coddington Street, Quincy, MA
Time: Liberos start at 10:30 am
and go until about 1:00 pm
All Other Positions start at 12:00 noon and go until about 5:30 pm
Cost: $40 to tryout and
then if you make the cut another $40 for program printing & t-shirts. You will
bring the payments with you on November 25th. We accept cash and
checks. Make checks payable to "Mass Juniors Volleyball".
How to Register: Click here for the resume format. Copy the questions on the resume page and paste into a new email. Complete each field and send and then you are considered registered. The email to send it to is masspatriots@aol.com. Registrations are accepted by email up to 4pm on Saturday, November 24th. After that you can print off your resume and bring it with you when you check in on November 25th.
HOW IT WORKS: On Sunday, November 25th, the players will be put through a battery of physical drills and skill tests and will be ranked based on their abilities. These ranks will be totaled and the 72 top scorers and additional 12 libero players overall will be invited to attend the Playdate on Sunday, December 2nd. These players will return to Quincy High School on December 2nd and will receive a t-shirt with a number on it that will correspond to the number of their resume in the college coaches book. The college coaches will receive a booklet containing each of these players resumes. The college coaches will also receive a booklet containing the resumes of the girls who tried out but did not make the cut.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO TRYOUT: The Playdate is geared towards high school seniors and juniors who plan to play collegiate volleyball. Talented sophomore and freshman players are also encouraged to tryout.
THE ACTUAL PLAYDATE: Takes place on Sunday, December 2nd at Quincy High School. The girls who make the cut after tryouts on November 25th will return to Quincy High School. You will be given a t-shirt with a number on it that will correspond with your information in a catalog the college coaches will receive. You will be assigned to a team and will play scrimmages all day (with appropriate breaks) so the college coaches can evaluate you. This year's t-shirt color is not yet decided. The players are expected to arrive at the gym by 12:00 noon for setup. The scrimmages begin at 1:00 pm and run until 5:00 pm.
OUR LOCATION: We are lucky to have the opportunity to use the new Quincy High School gymnasium. The gym opened in Fall 2010. Due to its being new there is a food restriction in the gym. Only water is allowed in. No coffee or Gatorade or coolers. There are areas in the lobby where you will be able to eat your lunches and have drinks other than water. Food will be sold to players and parents during the tryouts on November 25th. Please click here for more information.
DIRECTIONS TO QUINCY HIGH SCHOOL: Please click here for directions. Please follow our directions instead of GPS so you don't get caught up in road closures on November 25th due to the Quincy Christmas Parade.
GENERAL INFO: Players, please wear a t-shirt with a number on the back so we can easily identify you during tryouts. Parents and players, please wear layers. The school should be warm enough but will have been closed up a few days for the holiday. Parents are free to leave for food, to walk to the Quincy Center T Station for a trip to Boston, or to watch the parade. We ask that you return around 5:00 pm.

Please Note: You must attend the tryouts on November 25th to be considered for the actual Playdate on December 2nd. If you are unable to attend the tryouts on November 25th for any reason, you forfeit your opportunity to appear in this year's Playdate. There are no exceptions to this.
